The Importance of Proper Tutoring for Mediumship Development
With the sad decline in the standards of mediumship the most important aspect is how good is a development teacher. This all important aspect cannot be emphasised enough. Not all great mediums make good teachers. Not all good teachers are great mediums. It is not good enough to study aspects of mediumship, throw that together with a few years experience and decide that you are able to teach to a sufficient level. Having knowledge and being able to pass it on are not necessarily the same thing.
The Watseka Wonder Possession
We’ve all heard tales of spiritual possession. Most of the time, the stories we hear are of malicious, demonic entities hell-bent on controlling the living. Frightening and ghastly visions come to mind when we think of them. But what if some spirits are only looking for a way to communicate. In the form of a living person, a vessel to help them find closure to a life cut short? Or, to help bring peace to their own family, whose grief is so deep, they’ve taken to rituals to communicate with the other side? So was the story in the historical, haunting case of the Watseka Wonder.
The Watseka Wonder is credited as the first well-documented case of possession in the United States. It has inspired a movie, and it was so profound that the physician, Dr. E. Winchester Stevens, who witnessed the phenomenon first hand, wrote a book documenting the case.
To understand this mysterious story, we must first visit the heartland of America, Watseka, Illinois. Here, an ominous-looking home stands. Built, in 1868, the long, narrow, arched windows and brick exterior give this Victorian, Italianate style home a Gothic mood. Known today as the Roff House, it was constructed by Asa Roff, a prominent member of the Watseka community in the mid-eighteen hundreds, and has remained a mystery in the paranormal world since the Roff’s occupied it.
Clairvoyance Brought On By Illness?
Asa and Dorothy Roff’s daughter, Mary Roff, suffered from epilepsy and had frequent seizures. As she grew older, Mary claimed that spirits were around and spoke to her. These episodes became more violent as years passed. During one of her last and most violent spells, she became so fierce that it took several adults to restrain her while she calmed down. By this point, Mary was incredibly weak from a suicide attempt and blood loss, yet she exhibited a tremendous amount of strength.
She eventually settled down and remained delirious for five days and slept for many hours. When she awoke, it is said that Mary gained supernatural gifts. Her senses seemed to be heightened and, supposedly, could read while blindfolded.
Witnesses stated that she accurately read a letter in the pocket of A.J. Smith, editor of the Danville Times. The letter was supposedly sealed and in his pocket, but Mary read it aloud.
Because doctors could not find a cure or proper diagnosis of her strange symptoms, it was assumed she was afflicted with insanity. She was placed in an asylum for treatment in Peoria, Illinois, but died there in July 1865.
Séances And Secret Societies
After her death, The Roff family home was constructed in 1868. Being devout spiritualists and a common practice during the nineteenth century, the family immediately began holding séances inside the house. In addition to the family séances, Asa Roff was a known member of the Odd Fellows. A secret society who were known for partaking in mysterious rituals surrounding the dead during that time.
Some have speculated that the Roff’s involvement with the spiritual word may have been the catalyst that awoke the spirits which plagued Mary.
Watseka Wonder Under Spiritual Possession
In 1878, over a decade after Mary’s death, a young girl named Lurancy Vennum, who was thirteen years old at the time, lived in Watseka. One day, she suddenly became ill and began suffering epileptic seizures, stomach pains and said she saw angels around her. Her illness soon worsened; she spoke in different voices, taking on personalities not her own, and, at times, became violent.
This was during the height of the spiritual movement and gained rapid popularity amongst those practicing spiritualism. Instead of following doctors’ suggestions of placing Lurancy in an asylum, her parents sought help from local spiritualists to investigate.
Asa Roff was interested in Lurancy’s case because her symptoms so closely resembled his daughter, Mary’s. He had been convinced that Mary’s illness was not caused by insanity, as doctors tried to explain. But that she had been touched by the spiritual world, and he carried a tremendous amount of guilt over what happened to his daughter.
Good Spirits vs. Bad
Lurancy claimed evil spirits possessed her, and that was the cause of her violent outbursts. One of the doctors treating Lurancy asked her to seek a more pleasant spirit surrounding her to possess her body. When she stated that Mary Roff was present and wanted to help, the witnesses were astounded. Lurancy then invited Mary to take control of her physical body.
Immediately after the possession, Lurancy became calm and polite. A sharp contradiction to her previous behavior, and took on the personality of Mary Roff. Though Lurancy had never met Mary and had no knowledge of what Mary had gone through, she seemed to have intimate details of the Roff family. She was able to recognize them and knew the names of the Roff family relatives. She was even able to recall personal possessions that the family had owned.
Lurancy no longer recognized her own family and asked to be taken to the Roff home. Convinced that Lurancy was under the possession of his daughter, Asa asked if he could take Lurancy with him, believing that his daughter was asking from the spiritual world to be brought back to her family.
The Vennum’s agreed, and Lurancy accompanied Asa back to his home, where she lived for 15 weeks. At the end of that time, she bid the family goodbye in a tearful departure that she had prophesied and promised the return of Lurancy once she departed her body.
As promised, Lurancy returned. Seeming to be back to her old self and without any further episodes of spiritual possession, she went back to live with her parents. She eventually married, had a family of her own, and lived a normal, long life with no other illnesses.
Summoned Spirits Left Behind
Today, the Roff House still stands and is owned by John Whitman, who has worked to restore the home and turn it into a Bed & Breakfast. However, the Watseka Wonder possession story is not the only haunting tale attached to this property. Over the years, the owner and guests at the house have reported ghostly activity—some sinister.
Whispering is often heard from empty rooms. Black shadows have been spotted. Even reports of demons have been made. The owner stated in an interview that while staying the night, he awoke to a figure in his bedroom which appeared to have been burned, was wearing a black hooded cloak, and an evil grin curled its lips. Some visitors have also said that spirits have taken over their bodies, in a temporary possession.
Many believe that the ghostly sightings and dark presence that roam the property were invited through the portals opened during the many séances that the Roff family held. And that over the years, investigation groups who were inexperienced could have unknowingly exacerbated the haunted property by inviting more unfriendly spirits into the home.
Conclusion
As alluring as it is to make contact with the other side, one must always be cautious. Opening doors could very well let the person you are seeking to communicate with in, but there is no guarantee that others spirits, friendly or malicious, won’t follow them.

Let’s face it anything regarding the paranormal or the unexplained is compulsive, which might go a way towards explaining the current Ghost Hunting mania. Trust me, I’m with you on this. Ironically seeking the truth for evidence of continued survival is my raison d'être. Ghost Hunting TV shows and Paranormal YouTube channels are increasing with daily popularity. Investigators all over social media are poking around in the dark with EMF meters and Rem Pods. They can be found in just about every abandoned, derelict building or spooky location around the globe. Many die-hard fans also get the good fortune to join TV presenters on weekend investigations. Judging by the popularity, these regular events must be quite lucrative.
Exorcists.. Coincidence, cause or effect?
But, have you also noticed, intriguingly, an increase in ‘Celebrity Exorcists’? Some even have their own Twitter accounts! Is this mere coincidence or cause or effect? Has ghos hunting gone mad?
The Paranormal Investigator
Underneath the black baggy T-shirt, baseball cap and arms full of skull tattoos, you will find The Paranormal Investigator.. he’s muscly, rufty-tufty and out there looking for Demons. Hang on a minute…what seriously? Demons?!!!
Demons
This has always been a big eyebrow-raiser concerning the whole crazy, ghost-hunting circus. Why are paranormal investigators only seeking danger, evil spirits and demons? Is this just a fear-based adrenaline kick or is there a hungrier, deeper desire for fortune and fame? Perhaps because of the essence of paranormal investigations in a dark, supposedly haunted location or cemetery the paranormal investigators are subconsciously already at that level where the only encounters are sure to be of a malevolent nature?
Phantom Finders
Kate from the ‘Phantom Finders’ team recently found unexplained bruising after a night out at The Edinburgh Vaults, home to the resident evil spirit, “Mr Boots”.
“A couple of weeks ago I visited Edinburgh Vaults. I'd never been here before and to be honest I knew very little about it. I knew it was underground so it might be a little bit eerie and that there must be some sort of activity down there. We entered the 'double height room', the guide was stood at one end telling us about the people who would have lived down there and I was right at the back, the room was very dark, lit by candlelight.
I thought someone was behind me so I turned to see who it was as I was going to apologize for standing right in front of them. There was nobody there but it felt like there was, so I took a photo of the corner of the room and on my phone the little circle appeared for facial recognition which I thought was pretty weird… Anyway, fast forward to later on, we're back upstairs, reading the information board in the exhibition room. Apparently, Edinburgh Vaults are one of the most haunted places in all of Britain and there is a man who reportedly stands in the corner of the double height room and points and laughs at people, this man is known as Mr Boots. Creepy! People have been known to leave the vaults with unexplained bruises and scratches.”
What next?
Judging by the growing numbers in these cases, reported A class EVPs, SB7 spirit box communications of growling intent, Ouija board Zozo sessions, cold spots, oppressive atmospheres and being pushed in the dark, let’s assume that you have indeed really found a baddie. What next? Do you really want your life turned upside down by unseen forces?
Rather than brandishing your demonic bruises and scratches as medals of honor all over social media perhaps it’s worth considering if this was a demon communicating with you, what did it actually want?
Apparently by all accounts what Demons want is not the greatest…
They want to incite spiritual warfare, kill, destroy, murder, lie, confuse you, keep you from discovering the truth and will accuse you of things you have not done. They can leave you feeling truly suicidal and destructive. As far as most paranormal teams are concerned this might be a bit of a conversation killer, but isn’t the risk quite a high price to pay for a few YouTube subscribers?
The paranormal frenzy is pretty much focused within the West. People in the East are a lot more generally accepting and respectful of spirituality and the dangers and thus seem quicker to recognize demonic activity. Hindus often credit bad luck or circumstances to evil. In Japanese culture it’s not unusual to light bonfires or lanterns in respect and send the dead back to where they came from. Buddhists will keep a little spirit house and make offerings of food and water, whilst we in the West are divided by looking for rational explanations, scientific or perhaps mental health to attribute, which can make obsession and possession more difficult to recognize.
So if this war is real, would you go out to war un-armed?
The likes of Gary Galka and Bill Chappell should be applauded for their often ground breaking inventions. Gary’s heart-breaking loss of his own, beautiful teenage daughter Mel, led to him to develop communication methods with her, which is truly inspirational and pioneering! However the primary problem in the war against evil may not be what cool gadgets we have within our armory, but what strength of discernment we have within ourselves.
Discernment
By definition discernment is the ability to judge well – Judgement, enlightenment, sensitivity, subtlety and perceptiveness.
Zak Bagans the lead investigator and presenter from the hit TV series Ghost Adventures, is a prominent example of developing discernment within the current paranormal field. When talking to biography.com he admitted to having a much healthier respect than he did when he first started investigating.
Along his journey he feels that he has developed his own ‘sixth sense’ and is now able to feel and channel the emotions from the spirits and their power. Zak likened this to the movie ‘Avatar’ when they connect their tails in to other creatures. He also recognizes that this can be very dangerous which could well indicate that he has truly encountered evil and the consequences of doing so. Recently, despite a four hour, Halloween episode held within Zak’s haunted museum he finally decided not to open the Dybbuk box, reportedly one of the most haunted objects in the world due to concerns for his health. One would hope the hype surrounding this was not merely for show ratings.
The great news is however, if you believe that demons or malevolent forces are out there, you must also be open to the possibility of the polar opposite. Thankfully anything of evil disposition is controlled by God and in his name can be commanded.

The Demons Of Killer Clown: John Wayne Gacy
In our serial killer series this week, we take a look at one of America’s most prolific serial killers in history. It is believed that Gacy murdered a minimum of 33 young men and boys while he was an active serial killer. Now, we attempt to delve into his dark mind from a psychological and spiritual perspective.
Childhood Indicators
The larger majority of serial killers experience a bad childhood, and this was most certainly the case for John Wayne Gacy. While he had a good bond with his two sisters and his mother, his relationship with his father was a problematic one.
According to Gacy himself, his father was physically abusive towards his wife and his children. He also claimed that his father was a violent alcoholic. His father would belittle him emotionally as well, calling him dumb and stupid. He would also favor his sisters over him, which undoubtedly had a seriously harmful effect on Gacy’s psyche. Gacy in turn would spend his life trying to obtain his dad’s approval.
Physical Abuse Of John Wayne Gacy
The physical abuse Gacy suffered could have led to changing brain chemistry. During an interview in prison, he would recall how his father hit him with a broomstick and rendered him unconscious. Therefore, it would not be unlikely to assume that Gacy’s brain function changed significantly during childhood.
To support this theory further, Gacy suffered blackout seizures during childhood. He was hospitalized numerous times throughout his childhood for these blackouts and was told to avoid all forms of sport. As a result, Gacy eventually got overweight and this drew the ire of his father further. The exact medical condition Gacy suffered from was never diagnosed.
The childhood stories told by Gacy would also be supported by one of his high school friends. His own sisters would also support the stories told by the convicted serial killer. There is no doubt in my mind that his abusive childhood contributed to the person he became. In fact, it may have desensitized him to physical and emotional abuse.
Repeat Offences
There were some serious red flags surrounding John Wayne Gacy before he became a serial killer. The killer clown did develop an incredibly charismatic personality, which undoubtedly caused him to fly under the radar for as long as he did.
In 1968, Gacy was convicted of sexually assaulting two teenage boys. The seriousness of the offense would lead to a much longer sentence these days, but Gacy only received 10 years. To make matters worse, Gacy was on the streets again only two years later in 1970.
Despite his prison sentence, Gacy’s urges remained. He was arrested again only a year after his release when a teenager accused him of sexual assault. This time, the charges were dropped as the accuser did not turn up in court. In the mid-1970s, two young men would accuse Gacy of rape, which led him to be questioned by the police.
According to Gacy himself, the 1970s were his cruising years, meaning it was the time he committed most of his murders. His release from prison after only two years and the dismissal of the sexual assault is likely to have made Gacy more brazen.
Killings
Gacy came under suspicion after the disappearance of Robert Pies in late 1978. Police found out that Gacy had offered him a job just before he disappeared. Once the police started looking at Gacy, they found his previous conviction for sodomy.
Police searched Gacy’s home but found nothing more than some drivers licenses and college rings. Investigators did note upon a strange and unpleasant odor but did not think too much about it. However, Gacy’s luck would not last. One of the rings obtained from the home was linked to another missing boy called John Szyc. The police returned for a more extensive search and discovered 27 dead bodies in the crawl space underneath his house. Robert Piest’s body was eventually found in the Illinois River in April 1979.
Charismatic With A Dark Side
One of the things that stands out most about John Wayne Gacy is his charismatic personality. To most people, he was one of the most upstanding members of the community. He was involved in politics and even performed at children’s birthday parties as a clown.
Gacy managed to create the perfect disguise as a serial killer. Even though he committed numerous rapes and sexual assaults over the years, most people around him were completely oblivious about his past.
Serial Killer Profile
One could argue that John Wayne Gacy had the typical serial killer profile, but there is more to him than that. A large portion of Gacy’s pathology is undoubtedly the fact that he was gay. Given his relationship with his father, being gay would not have been accepted. He was also desperate for his dad’s approval, causing him to suppress his sexuality. Gacy would end up marrying a woman, but his victim preference certainly points to the fact that he was a gay man. This undoubtedly left him with a lot of anger.
It is likely that Gacy started murdering to avoid being arrested again for sexual assault or rape. There is also a high chance that he murdered in order to keep up appearances to the outside world, hiding the fact he was gay.
The physical and mental abuse John Wayne Gacy suffered, and the fact he was considerably overweight for much of his childhood and suffered bullying as well undoubtedly had a profound effect on how he developed as an adult.
Gacy eventually admitted to his wife that he was bisexual, although it is believed that he was homosexual. He told his wife that they would never have sex again and started taking teenage boys home. His wife also found gay pornography and ID cards inside the home. Carole Gacy would ask her husband for a divorce in 1975. This proves a very important point, as Gacy started killing in 1972. It is likely that Gacy became more brazen between 1972 and 1975, which made it difficult for him to hide the fact he was gay.
Jock’s Malevolence Hypothesis Of John Wayne Gacy
From a paranormal or spirit intervention perspective, I find this unique and fascinating as a case. There are a few potential gateways here and that is reminiscent of the case of Anna Ecklund back in 1928. Her name was actually Emma Schmidt and Anna Ecklund was a pseudonym for her. Now in Anna’s case, it is considered that her aunt was the catalyst for the Demoniacal possession, the reality, of course, is very different. Now as I am not discussing that case, I will refrain from going into that and will ask that you wait as there is a new expose on that case.
Ok, so we can deduce from the case of John Gacy, that he went through a tumultuous childhood and suffered at the hands of his father who abused him so much that he was rendered unconscious at times. Given the fact that his father could have been under the obsessive influence of malevolent intelligence. It would make sense that in the hatred and abuse that actually was levied upon his son, and the act of rendering his son unconscious could have caused the opening of a portal to which the long term obsession could have been affected and begun the pattern of subjugation of Gacy himself.
Obsession
As my colleague, Sandra pointed out “Gacy suffered blackout seizures during childhood,” which in my opinion can also be a severe sign of spirit intrusion. Now, not all seizures are spirit intrusion, but the evidence and patterns that build and follow from it give support to a pretty good case of potential obsession. Obviously not the type of evidence that would stand up in a court of law. The blackouts and seizures could easily be the affliction imposed by an invading malevolent force. The other interesting issue here is the strange odor, which of course could easily be explained away as rotting bodies, however, strange dead body odors also are a phenomenon of demoniacal possession. We will never really know if this is the case, but one has to consider that odors could have been both and mixed with the reality of the bodies. However, it was also noted the smell that was omitted was not congruent with dead bodies.
The medical professionals who tested Gacy during his trial supported the claim of insanity and noted him to be Schizophrenic, which is also a grey area when it comes to possible spirit intrusion. Consequently, the Jury dismissed this and he was convicted on all 33 counts of murder.
Gacy often went into convulsions and spoke out completely differently. When he gained conscious awareness after the event, he remembered nothing and could not recollect any event. Again this is a good supporting hypothesis of malevolent intrusion.
Conclusion
We will never really know the mind of Gacy, but one has to wonder if, in fact, his heinous evil crimes were a compulsion of evil influences that obsessed him since childhood. This of course is only a hypothesis but it does make one think about the possibilities. Furthermore, it may also make one think about the legal implications of such a hypothesis.
John Wayne Gacy was executed by lethal injection on May 10, 1994 at 12:58.

The Most Haunted Homes In The World
If you are thinking about purchasing a new home, you might want to check this list first. Various homes around the world have an extensive history, sometimes even with their own resident spirit or reported hauntings. Of course, some homes around the world are known to be haunted homes, but which are the most haunted ones?
Myrtles Plantation (United States)
Myrtles Plantation is undoubtedly one of the scariest haunted homes in the world. It achieved the dubious title of 'one of America's most haunted homes' and it is claimed that the home was built on an ancient Indian burial ground.
The rumor that the home is built on an Indian burial ground might not be the sole reason for the haunting. Local legend also states that ten murders took place in the house. Reported sightings include the ghost of a slave wearing a green turban, Sarah Woodruff and her children – who were former residents of the home – and William Winter who was allegedly shot on the front porch of the house.
The Ancient Ram Inn (United Kingdom)
We decided to include the Ancient Ram Inn in this overview because it still functions as a restaurant and hotel. Built in the 1100s, this house has quite the history. Guests have reported hearing screams in the middle of the night and furniture moving on its own. It is even claimed that the house was built on a Pagan burial ground, where children were sacrificed. There have also been reports by guests claiming they were pushed on the bed by a male demon.
The Monte Cristo Homestead (Australia)
The Monte Cristo Homestead may look picturesque from the outside, but there have been some strange and terrifying reports over the years. The Monte Cristo Homestead was the site where a baby was thrown down the stairs by something supernatural. Another boy got burned to death and a pregnant woman was pushed over the balcony by something. It is believed that this home is haunted by the former owners of the house, Christopher and Elizabeth Crawley.
Château de Brissac (France)
While a castle is a home that most of us could not afford, those who can may encounter this French castle situated in Maine-et-Loire. Nicknamed the 'Giant of the Loire Valley', this castle has its own private opera house and can seat a whopping 200 people. It was built by the Count of Anjou in the 11th century and has ties to King Louis XXIII.
The castle is no longer a home, but is currently functioning as a hotel. Reported ghosts are the Green Lady, which is claimed to be the bastard child of King Charles VII. She was murdered by her husband in the 15th century.
Casa Loma (Canada)
Casa Loma in Canada is not as old as some of the other haunted locations mentioned here, as it was only built in 1914. Nonetheless, the estate home is packed with secret passages throughout, which certainly adds more mystery to the stately home.
For years, there have been reports of hauntings at Casa Loma. One of the reported hauntings is that of the White Lady, who is believed to be one of the maids that worked at the home shortly after its construction. It is believed the maid lost her life alongside 60,000 other people in Toronto during the influenza crisis.
Another reported ghost in Casa Loma is believed to be that of Sir Henry Pellatt, the man who ordered the home to be built. It is believed his wife Mary also haunts the home.
Kehoe House (United States)
Built in 1892 for William and Anne Kehoe and their large family consisting of ten children, Kehoe House has quite a sad history. Shortly after starting to live in the house, several of the Kehoe children died.
Since 1992, Kehoe House has been transformed into a popular bed and breakfast. The bed and breakfast is certainly popular among ghost hunters, as several guests have reported hearing the sounds of children playing throughout the night, even though nobody was there.
The Winchester House (United States)
Many books have been written – as well as countless movies produced – about the Winchester House, its history, its unusual previous owners, and of course its ghosts. The stately Victorian home was built on behalf of Sarah Winchester shortly after the death of her husband, the rifle tycoon William Wirt Winchester.
Sarah believed that she was being haunted by spirits who were killed by the rifles her husband made and sold. To avoid the spirits, Sarah built a home that was filled with 47 staircases, 160 rooms, 10,000 window panes, and architectural marvels you would not find in any other home. Staircases reaching to the ceiling, but nowhere else, and even windows that lead to secret passages are a common occurence inside this home. Interestingly, the house was constantly changed and being worked on for 38 years. Construction only stopped when Sarah died of heart failure in 1922.
Reports of hauntings have been rampant for years. Visitors have claimed to have seen the wheelbarrow ghost, who is believed to be someone who worked at the house. Some also believe the home is haunted by Sarah Winchester herself.
Raynham Hall (United Kingdom)
England has plenty of old homes with a lengthy history and one of them is Raynham Hall. It was built in 1637 and is currently a tourist attraction, as it is believe the home is being haunted by the so-called "Brown Lady of Raynham Hall". The Brown Lady is believed to be Lady Dorothy Walpole, the former owner of the home. A photographer from Country Life Magazine managed to capture her spirit on camera, which was later published in the 1936 edition of the magazine.
The Amityville House (United States)
The Amityville House is probably the home with the bloodiest history in this overview. In November 1974, Ronald Defeo Jr. shot six family members inside this house. He would later claim that an evil spirit caused him to commit the murders.
The weird history of the Amityville House did not stop with the murders committed by Ronald Defeo Jr. The year following the murders, the home was purchased by the Lutz family. As soon as they moved into the home, the Lutz family experienced severe paranormal activity. They found a hidden red room and doors slamming on their own.
Shortly after their arrival, the family requested that a priest bless the house in order to expel the spirits. The priest in question would later state that mysterious voices told him to get out of the house.
The Lutz family had to move out of the house after only 26 days. Books and movies have been made about the events. Due to all the media attention, the Lutz family later recanted their story. However, one of the sons would later state that the stories were all true, but that the media attention caused them to recant. He also admitted he still had nightmares from his time at the house.

Exhibit Forced To Close Due To Paranormal Activity, Would You Sit In The Chair?
There are many paranormal exhibits around the world, but none has felt as real as "The Devil's Rocking Chair". The exhibit had to close down, unfortunately; this only a month after purchasing the creepy rocking chair. There is no word if the exhibit will ever open again, due to the intense paranormal activity that occurred after buying it.
What Paranormal Activity Happened During The Exhibit?
Plenty of paranormal activity went on during the exhibit. A power cord pulling itself out of the wall, a light focussing on the rocking chair, five tour guides crying uncontrollably, a woman in the first group fainting. The chair is also believed to be the focus point of "The Conjuring 3". Needless to say, this is a chair with tons of history and ties to none other than Lorraine Warren, the famous paranormal investigator.
What Is The History Of The Chair?
The Devil's Rocking Chair was recently purchased by Zak Bagans, the man from the paranormal series "Ghost Adventures". The chair was supposed to be the main attraction at his Haunted Museum in Las Vegas, but the paranormal activity surrounding the chair threw a spanner in the works.
There is a lot of history surrounding this chair, dating back to the 1980s. The case was referred to as "The Devil Made Me Do It", and was investigated by none other than Ed and Lorraine Warren, whose cases have been featured in movies such as "The Conjuring" and "Annabelle". The case involved an 11-year-old boy who was allegedly possessed. Catholic priests attempted to rid the boy from the possession, but during the exorcism, the chair would levitate and start to rock by itself. Ed and Lorraine Warren claimed to have seen the devil sitting inside the chair.
After several days of exorcism, the demon was expelled from the boy. However, it is believed the demon jumped into Arne Cheyenne Johnson, the little boy's sister. Some months later, Arne would kill her landlord during an argument, stating that a demon made her do it. Even though both Ed and Lorraine Warren testified at her trail, the judge convicted her for first degree murder.
A book was also written about the case in 1983, called "The Devil In Connecticut". There is also a movie in the making that will be released in 2020, "The Conjuring 3". It is believed the Devil's Rocking Chair and its history will be the focus of that movie.
As mentioned earlier, the Devil's Rocking Chair was eventually sold for 67,000 dollars. The chair was sold by David's brother Carl Glazel. While the chair remained in their family after the weird events, Carl was set to move and did not want to take the creepy chair with him.
According to Carl, nobody should ever sit in the chair. It is said that people who dare sit in it face some medical problems shortly afterwards. Some who did even required surgery. Interestingly, the chair was only sold a couple of hours before the death of Lorraine Warren, another creepy coincidence that surrounds this chair.
Visit At Your Own Peril
While I certainly understand people's fascination with the paranormal, I would not be visiting the chair myself. If such items are not protected properly, it could certainly lead to problems. Lorraine Warren is no longer here, so one does have to ask why Zac thought it would be a good idea to display this creepy chair without any help from someone who has a bit more experience with this kind of thing. He may be a paranormal investigator, but I doubt he foresaw the trouble this rocking chair would bring to his exhibit.
