clinical strength

Filed under: extreme — extreme @ 3:08 am

Just watching a television commercial for an anti perspirant, and they used the term clinical strength when describing their underarm deodorant. What is “clinical strength” when it comes to antiperspirant? What clinic? Is that like a medical clinic like a hospital or doctor’s office, or like a baseball clinic where young players go and listen to pro’s to try to improve their game. And is “clinical strength” stronger than “extra strength” or is it just in between “regular strength” and “extra strength”.

I can just see the focus group of television commercial writers or product marketing experts sitting at a round table coming up with their slogans and ideas, and coming up with the idea of “clinical strength”…. thinking “perfect… it sounds medicinal and strong, without actually saying or meaning anything! It’s a winner!”

Personally I think I’ll avoid this “clinical strength” underarm deodorant, just out of spite for a meaningless slogan.
